World Of Warcraft : The Burning Crusade

After a while we got The Burning Crusade and what it brought was a bunch of new additions and game play changes for both PvP and PvE encounter and made wow soar into the top of the best selling mmorpg of all times.
Now let’s see what TBC brought new to the table: well first the max cap for the player level isn’t anymore 60, it was raised to 70, this change automatically needed new lands and new monsters to be able to level the new character so out popped OUTLAND, a new “world” that was totally different from what we were used in wow. The new land is massive in size and also is different in all the ways from its predecessor, brining the user into another world, more fantasy like where whole islands float in the air, where demons rule the lands. The new lands all have a specific theme from barren lands to lush jungle terrains and to almost SF patterns.

TBC also continues the storyline and places Illidan in the picture, as you might know in wow the final boss was Kel’Thuzad The Lich King Commander, where as in TBC the focus is on Illidan who is the “king of outland”.

Also we have a growth in the skill level, the max level is no longer 300 but 375 and we have also a new profession called Jewel Crafting, which allows players to socket their items with gems that increase certain stats in their gear. Also another major change is the introduction of the new Races to the game, more specifically the Draenai for Alliance and Blood Elfes for Horde and by doing so the once Shaman and Paladin classes that were only for Horde or Alliance are now available for both factions.

The major PvE changes:

Due to the fact that in wow players complained of the difficulty level in gathering 40 raid members and becoming a small elite group on every server, blizzard thought of making PvE available for all the members so they lowered the bracket the 40 man raids became 25 man and the 20 man became 10 man raids. Also all the 5 man instances had dual mode for them one NORMAL and one HEROIC, the difference is pretty big because in Heroic mode a instance will have Better than average loot and in all cases the final boss will drop a Epic loot. Along with all loot all the bosses from a dungeon will drop a Badge and with these players will be able to gather more Epic loot more easily.

Also all the raid encounters were made in such a way that all the players play a role now and without witch the raid will certainly wipe if they don’t perform it well. This was a positive effect since at first players thought the level was set to high from blizzard but they slowly began to adapt and see that it requires a whole new thinking to down some bosses that we were used from wow. A lot more can be said here but you its best you try to explore it.

The major PvP changes:
Another major improvement brought was the joined Battlegroups. Since some server had a low Alliance population or a low Horde one, blizzard decided to join servers between them to make a bigger battlegroup so that the waiting time will be dramatically reduced thus offering a more pleasant and continuous game play.
Another major change was the introduction of the Arena system. The arena is formed out of 3 brackets 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5. To join any arena games you will be required to be level 70.

2v2 Arena

2v2 Arena

The arenas were such a great idea that it soon caught up with the players and it’s now even being advertised as a sport with blizzard offering live broadcasting of the games between internationally known teams.
Ahh yes and last but not least if the introduction of the Resilience gear for PvP which is a dampener against being critted by the other players, so the more resilience you have the better chance of not getting a critical hit. With time the resilience changed and evolved throw small patches and now affects also spells and dots and lowers the damage you are getting from them.

Basically some people say that Resilience ruined the pvp game play and now classes like priests and other cloth wearers can kill easy a plate wearer, but that is for you to decide.

Also we have the creation of a new Battle Ground called “Eye Of The Storm” which is a level 70 only bg, where blizzard tried to merge the capture the flag idea with gathering resources. The same as in Arathi Basin the first one that reaches 2000 resources wins the game.

There are a lot more changes in TBC like the introduction of the Air Mount, you will have a variety of mounts to choose from some attained throw buying them, some throw reputation farming and others simply crafted.

TBC brought a whole and new exciting world into the eyes of fans and achieved its goal of setting a new world record in copies sold and gaining the supremacy of the MMORPG online games but it also set the bar really high and I honestly don’t know if the next patch Wrath Of the Litch King will be able to stand up to it and rise above the expectations that 10 million fans demand.
