Harold & Kumar-Escape From Guantanamo Bay

August 28, 2008 – 9:07 am

Harold & Kumar-Escape From Guantanamo Bay
Fan or not of the first movie , Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg , made a excellent job in the second movie again.  While the first part “Go to White Castle”  was a good comedy the second one pick off right after their adventures  and plunges them into  a roller-coster of disasters  when they try to undergo a trip to Amsterdam with double interest , for Kumar to enjoy the beautifull life of a contry with legal marijuana and for Harold to see his newly girlfriend .

But as you can imagine they will have a series of bad accidents and they will ultimately keep you watching and enjoying this movies and every second of it. One after another their adventures takes them across America and beyond , meeting along the way the most funnies characters available  , all while being persuited by the FBI , in wich Rob Corddry plays a perfect role of a lets say “Mentaly insane” federal agent .The jokes are well put , well made and well executed  , combined with the beautifull girls , loads of drinks and pot , we have a A+ teenage adventure movie .

My personal advice is , if you like comedy movies about teenagers , pot and all the rest , this is a must see movie .

Starring: Kal Penn, John Cho, Rob Corddry, Neil Patrick Harris, Roger Bart

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

August 28, 2008 – 8:14 am

And at last after 7 years of waiting we finally got the 3’rd sequel  , Tomb of the Dragon Emperor , fitting
sequel for the first two   , if you even saw the trailer you would be impressed since this part focuses on
the Asian part of mummy’s , while the others were in “classical Egyptian “ stile.

Well if you think they made another hit, you couldn’t be any more wrong then that, not because of the
story which is really nice but due to a lot of mistakes, some small ones and some colossal.

Stephen Sommers did e perfect job with the first 2 movies, they had everything and captured the
imagination of all in a rich and lust environment along with carefully picked actors, while Rob Cohen
the director of part 3 really didn’t shine in this category.

Let’s see  , first off all the most striking difference that you can see is the replacement of Rachel Weisz
witch played  Evelyn Carnahan O’Connell with Maria Bello , this has a major effect on the movie since
viewers were already familiar with Weisz acting and her chemistry with Brendan Fraser , sadly you won’t
see that in the 3rd sequel since Bello lacked from every point  the acting skill necessary for this kind
of a movie .

Second of all , I for one , couldn’t laugh at any of the “comical ”part of the movie , the dialogs were shabby ,
no soul , and over used jokes  making the humor  a bit unpleasant at times.

Thirdly even though 7 years have passed and the graphics should have been breathtaking, they lack the “realistic part” since the director decided to take in CG effects, which in more than one place take away the beauty of the scene and leave you with a bad taste. The rest as you can expect is a lot of shooting and fighting, nice action, but not as nearly entertaining as the first 2 movies.

All in all I was upset with different things in this movie witch made from a beautiful series a small wreck.

What can we expect in the future? Without any doubt there will be a sequel since we still have the
Aztec or Mayans Mummy’s  , but at this point it’s all about Directors and theyr attention to detail ,
if the next movie will be again so bad , the mummy theme might die with them .
